With the theme: “Strengthening and Forging Linkages: Towards a Revitalized School of Business”, the School of Business held the Annual Convocation cum Acquaintance Party at the Father Tonus Gymnasium on July 23, 2010. The objectives of the said activity are (1) to promote unity and camaraderie among SB students and faculty members; and (2) to strengthen and maintain the relationship that exists in the department. After the objectives of the activity were presented, Dr. Isabelita G. Rabec, OIC Dean, School of Business delivered her welcome remarks and introduced the faculty members to the whole studentry. In turn, the advisers of the different co-curricular clubs presented their respective officers who were then inducted by Atty. Irma R. Preza, a faculty member of the School of Accountancy and of the College of Law. “Self-motivation: The Key to Change”, the title of the inspirational talk delivered by Dr. Ma. Teresa B. Tayaban, Dean, School of Arts and Sciences, enthused not only the faculty members but also the students. The said talk was mainly addressed to the students, for them to rebuild their self-confidence. The University President Rev. Renillo H. Sta. Ana, CICM, also shared some thoughts.

The Acquaintance Party followed immediately after the convocation. The theme was inspired by the latest Twilight saga movie entitled “Eclipse”. Highlights of the activity included the Solo and Pop Dance Competitions. The panel of judges during the competition was composed of Mr. Dino A. Reyes, Faculty, School of Education and Trainer, SMU Dance Troupe; Miss Ronda Navalta, Faculty, School of Education; and Mr. Christopher Allen Marquez, Faculty, School of Arts and Sciences. After the competitions, faculty members and students together enjoyed a sumptuous dinner and danced to their delight until 8:00 in the evening.
